| Classroom Message Board FAQ's | |
The Let's Learn Genealogy community is a
friendly one, a place where folks can feel relaxed and comfortable. So please
read the guidelines posed below for a better understanding of how our message
boards work.
1. Maintain the focus by choosing the
appropriate area for your questions and comments. Do not post messages
that aren't relevant to the classroom's subject matter. Each
class will include a Lounge for off-topic posts. We also have another Genealogy
Forum specifically for genealogy research questions and comments on
all topics and we would love to see you participating there as well as in your
class!
2. As in any community, respect those
around you. Our forum has five basic rules:
Use appropriate language. No four-letter words, please.
No personal insults. Heated discussion of issues is acceptable. Flaming an individual is not. "Attack the message, not the messenger"
No advertising. Boards are not a venue for selling goods and services. You may, however, feel free to post links to your personal genealogy Web site in the Lounge folder.
No defamation. You don't want to get sued. We don't want to get sued. It's that simple.
No copyright infringement. Don't post material that other people created, unless it's in the public domain.
3. Please don't post the same question in
more than one topic in a discussion. I keep track of all discussions and will
find your question, I promise! Duplicate posts will be removed without notice.
4. Let's
Learn Genealogy is a community where people can learn about each other, so
we encourage everyone to use their first (and last if you feel comfortable)
names in the discussion areas.
5. Read the existing messages before
posting a new message. Someone else may already have posted -- or even answered
-- your question.
6.
Include a meaningful subject for each message that you post. Remember that when
someone is looking at the Topics outline, your message subject is all they have
to go by.
7. Remember, above all, to have fun making new friends and learning genealogy!
